Accessing the area
There are four ways I know to access the area: (A) From Kings Valley; (B) from Falls City; (C) from Moonshine Park; and (D) from Lincoln City.
(A) Kings Valley access
From Corvallis, the best way to access the area is from Kings Valley via what is called the "Old Railroad Grade" road. This road is owned by Hancock Forest Management and there is a Hancock timber company gate at the end of Wildwood Road about 6 miles north of Ft. Hoskins County Park. The gate is typically open when it is not fire season. To check on accessibility call 503-838-6930. Good places to start a ride are Ft. Hoskins County Park (map) and the steel bridge on Wildwood Road (map). From Corvallis it is 19 miles (or 28 minutes) to Ft. Hoskins and the steel bridge is 5 more miles to the north. Be aware that the gate at Ft. Hoskins closes at dusk. There is a gravel parking area just outside the park at the intersection of Hoskins Rd. and Alexander Rd. I prefer the steel bridge as it is 5 miles closer to Valsetz. There is a place to park on the northeast side of the bridge.
(B) Falls City access: The road from Falls City to Valsetz covers about 15 miles. From downtown Falls City, head south on Bridge Street and turn right on Chamberlain Road which eventually turns into Valsetz Road.
(C) Moonshine Park access: Moonshine Park is located about 4 miles north of Logsden on the banks of the Siletz River (map). A road heads north along the Siletz River and reaches Valsetz in about 20 miles. There is a Weyerhaeuser gate just north of Moonshine Park. The road between this gate and Gravel Creek Road is only open on weekends.
(D) Lincoln City access: From Highway 101 south of Lincoln City, take Drift Creek Road for about 12 miles to Drift Creek Falls. It is about 23 miles from Drift Creek Falls to Valsetz.

(2) Kings Valley to Valsetz
Here are two routes from Kings Valley to Valsetz:
(A) The basic Valsetz route (31 miles; 1800' of climbing): This route begins at a steel bridge about 4.5 miles north of Ft. Hoskins (location on map) and goes for 12.4 miles to Valsetz. From there, it loops around Valsetz Lake and returns.
This route is featured on the MTB Project in two parts, each of which include photos:
(B) The Valsetz loop (36 miles; 2100' of climbing): The first 15 miles of this route are the same as the one above. Instead of completing a loop around Valsetz Lake, this route takes a larger loop following Sunshine Road and Big Rock Creek Road. The last 8 miles are shared with the route above.
This route is featured on the MTB Project in four parts, each of which include photos:
Valsetz Lake Road (mile 0 to mile 1.6)
Rock Creek Road (mile 6.2 to mile 10.9)
For more information about this destination, see: Valsetz.

(4) Valsetz to Gravel Creek (Siletz River Road) (12 miles out & back; 800' of climbing).
A very pleasant ride can be had on the road that follows the Siletz River west from Valsetz. The river is often in view, and there are no steep climbs. I recommend a route that goes from Valsetz to Gravel Creek.
This route is a segment of a route featured on the MTB Project, which includes photos: Siletz River Road (mile 22 to mile 16.6).
(5) Siletz River Road Loop from Valsetz (28.4 mile loop; +2300' of climbing): This route starts in Valsetz and heads northwest along the Siletz River Road and then follows the river as it heads southwest. It returns to Valsetz via Sunshine Creek Road and Sunshine Road.
This route is featured on the MTB Project in four parts, each of which include photos:
Siletz River Road (mile 22 to mile 6).
Sunshine Road (mile 6 to mile 0)
Valsetz Lake Road (mile 1.6 to mile 0)
Note: After riding this, I believe it may be more enjoyable riding in a reverse direction due to the hills on Sunshine Road and Sunshine Creek Road.
(6) Moonshine Park / Valsetz Loop (40 mile loop; +2900' of climbing): This route starts at Moonshine Park (where there is a campground) and heads northeast to Valsetz along the Siletz River Road. It returns via Sunshine Road and Sunshine Creek Road.
This route is featured on the MTB Project in four parts, each of which include photos:
Valsetz Lake Road (mile 0 to mile 1.6)
Sunshine Road (mile 0 to mile 6)
(7) Moonshine Park to The Valley of the Giants (45 miles out and back; +4300' of climbing): This route starts at Moonshine Park and goes to the Valley of the Giants. The road between Moonshine Park and Gravel Creek is owned by Weyerhaeuser and is only open on weekends.
Ride with GPS: Out and back route (45.3 mi +4273')
(8) Gravel Creek Road to Drift Creek Falls (24 miles round trip; 2600' of climbing): This route starts at the intersection of the Siletz River Road and goes to Drift Creek Falls.
Route (with photos) on the MTB Project: Drift Creek Falls Gravel Ride
Note: Combining this route with the Valsetz to Gravel Creek route would add 12 miles, and permit beginning the ride at Valsetz. See route #4 above. You can also view this route on the MTB Project. See Siletz River Road (mile 22 to mile 16.6).

(3) Valsetz to The Valley of the Giants (23 miles out and back; 1900' of climbing): This route heads west from Valsetz along the Siletz River Road. In about 5 miles, it meets the confluence of the north fork and south fork of the Siletz River. From there it is 6.7 miles (and 932' of climbing) to The Valley of the Giants.
This route is featured on the MTB Project in two parts, each of which include photos:
Siletz River Road (mile 22 to mile 16)
Note: This route could be shortened to a 13 mile out and back if you drive to the confluence of the forks of the Siletz River. Biking from Kings Valley to The Valley of the Giants would be more than a 50 mile round trip.
