Wolkau Road to Ona Beach
Section 5: Wolkau Road to Ona Beach
This 5 mile long section begins on Wolkau Road and ends at the Ona Beach Day Use Area (in Brian Booth State Park). It has two segments.
(a) Hitselberger Ranch to Beaver Creek State Natural Area [bikes ok]
This 3.1 mile segment of passes through privately-owned Hitselberger Ranch for about a mile and reaches North Beaver Creek Road after passing through about 2 miles of private timber company land (Hancock Forests and Weyerhaueser).
Trailhead and parking (east end): Parking is available on the west side of Wolkau Road 0.3 miles north of the trail. To access this location from North Beaver Creek Road, drive north on Wolkau Road for 0.7 mile.
Trailhead and parking (west end): Parking is available at the Brian Booth State Park Welcome Center at the Beaver Creek State Natural Area.
Bicycling: Bicycles are permitted.
Notes: The Hitselberger Ranch is the home of Wolf Tree Brewing. The facility is not open to the public, but they have a tasting room in South Beach near Newport.
(b) North Beaver Creek Road [bikes ok]
This segment follows paved North Beaver Creek Road for 1.8 miles to Ona Beach.
Trailhead and parking (east end): Parking is available at the Brian Booth State Park Welcome Center at the Beaver Creek State Natural Area.
Trailhead and parking (west end): Parking is available at Ona Beach Day Use Area.
Bicycling: Bicycles are permitted on North Beaver Creek Road.
Notes: Five miles of hiking trails are located at the Beaver Creek State Natural Area.
