(1) Benton County parks & natural areas

Notable parks

  • Adair County Park: This is a good place to park to start a bike ride from Adair Village.

  • Beazell Memorial Forest: This park has nice hiking trails. I am not sure if bicycles are allowed.

  • Bellfountain County Park: This is a great place to start many bike rides in Southern Benton County.

  • Clemens Park: This is a small park just north of the town of Alsea that has some nice hiking trails along the North Fork of the Alsea River.

  • Irish Bend Park: This park is on the banks of the Willamette River in Southern Benton County. There are a few hiking trails.

  • Fitton Green Natural Area: This park, on the west side of Corvallis, offers some of the best views, including close-up perspectives on Marys Peak and more distant views of the Cascades on a clear day. Trails include the Allan Throop Loop, the Mulkey Ridge Trail, and a trail that connects with the Cardwell Hill Wagon Road and the trails in the Crestmont Land Trust. Trails are seasonally closed to bicycles from 11/1 to ? (probably 4/15).

  • Fort Hoskins Historical Park: This park in Kings Valley is the former site of a fort from the mid-1800s. It has hiking trails that are bikeable. It also can serve as a starting point for gravel routes in the area.

  • Salmonberry Campground: This campground in Southern Benton County is on the banks of the Alsea River. It is a good place to camp when biking to the Coast on the Southern Tier.
