Section 3: Palmer Mountain

• This section forms a 7.3 mile crescent shaped arc to the north of NF-31 as the route passes around the north side of Palmer Mountain (elevation 1645’).

• Trailhead and parking (east end): A parking area is available at the intersection of NF-31 and NF-3127.

• Trailhead and parking (west end): A parking area is available at the intersection of 1000 Line Road (NF-59) and NF-5083.

• Bicycling: Bicycles are permitted on NF-3127 and NF-5081 but not on the Palmer Mountain Trail.

(a) NF-3127 [bikes ok]

This segment follows an old logging road that has been gated and decommissioned generally toward the northwest for 2.3 miles.

(b) Palmer Mountain Trail [bikes prohibited]

This 1.1 mile segment of trail connects NF-3127 with NF-5083 as the route passes around the north side of Palmer Mountain (elevation 1645’).

(c) NF-5083 to NF-5081 [bikes ok]

NF-5083 reaches 1000 Line Road (NF-59) to the southwest in 3.8 miles. The road is ungated from the eastern end to 1000 Line Road. The route then heads south on 1000 Line Road for 0.1 miles. NF-5081 is on the west side of the road.
