Grant Creek to Gopher Ridge Shuttle Hike
This route makes it possible to use a car and bike shuttle to hike segments of the C2C Trail just west of Big Elk Campground. The route is a 11.7 mile loop, with 4 miles of hiking and 7.7 miles of bicycling.
Grant Creek to Gopher Ridge Loop
Distance and elevation gain: 4 miles of hiking and 7.7 miles of bicycling (11.7 miles total). The hike gains ~1400' of elevation and the bicycle route is mostly downhill.
Details: The hiking route is on segments of the C2C Trail that are closed to bicycles by the Siuslaw National Forest, including the Grant Creek Trail, the Hogback Trail, and the Branch Creek Trail (see: Big Elk to Bull Run) as well as the Bull Run Trail (see: Bull Run to Hilltop Connector). The bicycle route follows two unpaved roads (Bull Run Road and Grant Creek Road) and one paved road (NF-31 / Hilltop Road).
Directions to trailheads: Leave a bicycle at the upper Gopher Ridge Trailhead on Bull Run Road (NF-3119). Drive to the Grant Creek Trailhead and park to begin the hike.
